Alternatives to Face Painting

Arm Designs

As well as Face Painting, arms and legs can be painted, and this is especially useful for very small children between two and three years old, or for anyone not keen on a full face paint.

Wounds & Bruises

Another alternative to face painting, these realistic, fake wounds, cuts, grazes & bruises will have the parents running for the first aid box & the kids thoroughly enjoying the Blood & Gore without any of the pain! The wounds are made using soft wax, with such things as pieces of ‘glass’ (which is made from sugar or soft plastic) imbedded into the open wound, complete with congealed blood they look so real! (A policeman even fooled a colleague once!)

A realistic bruise can be done at the same time to add authenticity to the wound, or used over the eye for a great Black eye effect! Again, all easily removed with soap & water, although the  blood products can stain white clothing. A good soak in Bio-tex or Vanish   will usually get it out.

Funky Hair

Children love the bright colours of these synthetic ‘hair pieces.’ They are applied to small sections of hair using covered bands, rather like mini pony tails. Many colours to choose from! They look great with a face painting…. for instance; add some orange & black funky hair to a tiger face paint to give an even fiercer result! Or pretty lilac, pink or white combinations to a fairy or butterfly… the colour combinations and resulting effects are endless!

TEMPORARY TATTOOS

Too young for the real thing? Want to rebel a bit? Or do you want to try before you go for a real one?

These are great fun & especially popular with teens & adults or older children who consider them ‘cool’! and an alternative to face painting.

The temporary tattoos are water based (NOT Henna) and I use only the very safest approved inks. They last between one to seven days unless you remove them earlier.

Once applied, the ink takes between 5-10 minutes to become touch dry, but if left dry for an hour or so after application it will last much longer. The temporary tattoos can be removed at any time with soap & water & a gentle rub with a cloth or baby wipe.

The temporary tattoos are water resistant once dry, so will not come off in the bath or shower as long as it is not soaped or rubbed. As I said, the inks are water based, & approved for cosmetic use. In the very unlikely event of irritation, wash the tattoo with warm soapy water & a flannel cloth immediately.

 GLITTER TATTOOS

Glitter tattoos are an extra special alternative to ordinary temporary tattoos. The designs are obtained by using a skin -safe glue instead of the ink ,to which coloured cosmetic grade glitter is applied while the glue is still tacky. The designs are then just as long lasting as the ink tattoos, but have the added Wow! factor. These are especially popular with girls of all ages, and also clubbers of both genders.
